Rep. Cammack to Introduce Legislation Prohibiting ‘Display of Foreign’ Flags on House Floor

via FOX

Rep. Kat Cammack plans to introduce legislation banning the display of foreign flags in the House of Representatives after Democrats celebrated passing a $61 billion Ukraine aid package by waving miniature Ukrainian flags on the House floor.

Speaker Mike Johnson admonished Democrats, saying only the American flag should be waved according to decorum.

“Watching American representatives pass out & wave Ukrainian flags in the United States House of Representatives chamber infuriated me,” Cammack wrote. “As we speak, my team is drafting legislation that will prohibit the display of foreign nations’ flags on the House floor.”

“It is in violation of decorum to wave flags on the floor,” Johnson said.

Republicans like Anna Paulina Luna, Matt Gaetz, and Eric Burlison criticized Democrats, with Luna calling it a disgrace to display any flag but the American flag in the chamber.

“These are not normal times here in the House or around the world as we all know,” Johnson said. “And, we saw a disturbance here on the House floor just a bit ago. I just want to say simply what I think most people around the country understand and agree, we should only wave one flag on the House floor. And I think we know which flag that is.”

“Put those damn flags away. It is a disgrace to display any other flag than the American flag in the House Chamber!” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna wrote.

Burlison said waving Ukrainian flags shows Democrats prioritize Ukraine over America.

“Democrats waiving Ukrainian flags on the House floor tells you everything you need to know about their priorities,” Rep. Eric Burlison wrote. “Ukraine first, America last.”

Johnson told reporters it was a disturbance and the understood flag to wave in the House is the American one.
